Many people use writing prompts. They are handy when it comes to writing assignments in school or for a writer. Short stories. Novels. Poems. Writing prompts are fun and can come in any form: a phrase, a picture, a scenario, a song, an event. You can read a sentence and see what writing ideas come to you. You can look at a picture and discover a story lurking there.

June is Dairy Month. Here, you’ll find some writing prompts dedicated to this celebration. Use them as they are or as a launching pad for even better ideas for your writing. Use it for writing a short story, an essay, a book, a song, or a movie script. Don’t limit yourself.

How to Use Writing Prompts

It is so easy to use writing prompts. Pick one. Read it, look over it, mull over it. I typically review my writing prompt and then walk away for a bit, hours or days. Then I review it again to see what ideas have sprouted in my brain. The idea might come quickly or could take days. Everyone is different.

Writing prompts are literally a prompt to your creative mind. They are ideas and suggestions for you to take and create something uniquely yours. Inspiration is what they are.
