The Earl of Penderdale is determined to get down to the bottom of a thief using his name. He’ll go undercover to find the culprit. Elizabeth Essex is the loved daughter of a college professor who tries to gain a higher education of a world who doesn’t like women to do more than manage the house. When she clashes with the Earl, she might find someone who sees the world as she does.

I love historical romances. When a little bit of mystery is thrown in, I’m even happier. Who is using the Earl’s identity? How dangerous will it be to discover the truth? Nothing about the mystery was too obvious or odd. It did me on my toes as I went with them on their adventures. The main pulse of the story is not the mystery; it is the romance.

Elizabeth’s personality is one I’d love to be like. She has a fire within to learn and to teach others that I can relate to, but she lives in a world that will not allow women to advance their learning. That I can’t relate to. I can learn anything I want. Elizabeth is stuck learning a few languages and how keep a house in order. Nothing more. She does what she can to keep her head down within…
