Temptation might be a very misunderstood topic. What’s wrong with it? What does it do to us? Let’s look at what the Bible has to say about it.

Using the SOAP Method

Studying religious scripture can be daunting. There is usually a lot of material. The Christian Bible is lengthy and covers more topics than you can easily rattle off. Using the SOAP method is a great way to take the large amounts of info into bite size pieces. I highly recommend a journal to explore this process.

S stands for Scripture. We start with the scripture which can be any length. To start with, you can choose daily verses that are sent through apps or emails or small segments from the Bible. Don’t get too big of a chunk as it might contain too much information at once. I would also recommend that you read it multiple times before you continue.

O stands for Observation. When you read the scripture, what do you see? Note what you observe as you read it. There might be just one thing that leaps out at you or several things. Jot them down. You can revisit them later.

A stands for Application. After reading the scripture and making note of your observations, how can you apply it to your life? Application is important. Reading something and noting it is one thing, but applying it to your life is where you get the biggest benefit.
