Bible study can be daunting. There is so much that you might not know where to start. Here, I pick verses and apply a study method called SOAP.

S = Scripture

O = Observation

A = Application

P = Prayer

Scripture is read. Observations are noted. Applications are explored. Prayers are given. Simple yet powerful Bible study strategy. It helps make the scripture personal and not just part of a large book.

Here, I use the SOAP method. You can either just take the method and apply it to the verses I’ve chosen or you can work through it with me.

Scripture

Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God — this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is — his good, pleasing and perfect will. (Romans 12:1-2)

Observations

No matter how many times I read this, I keep seeing two messages within the words. There is the living sacrifice and not conforming to this world, yet they are deeply intertwined. All the more reason to deeply study this.
