The Khanjar’s Crusade Book Review

2 min readMay 5, 2025

Sold into slavery, one woman finds a way to help those who can’t help themselves from the diabolic actions of the Crusaders. But success will take her back to her homeland to face her own past and what the future of the lands will be.

Being fascinated of the period, I quickly put this title on my to-read-list. It took me into areas I never dreamed of. This is told from the point of views of Crusaders themselves as well as those who oppose them. It is evident early on that the Crusaders aren’t the righteous warriors they were portrayed as in the Christian world. Murder becomes more the norm than holy warring. They have their own greedy agendas that they coat with holiness so they can justify it. It is no wonder that those who lived in the lands fought against them as they are faced with many Crusader swords.

It shouldn’t come to any surprise that the novel has more than one complicated plot that drives the characters to seek for victory, gold, and the defeat of their enemies. Through these plots, the characters develop and move toward their literary fate. At times, these plots seem to drag along as history and characters are explained. There are also quite a number of characters that come and go which can become confusing here and there but not overly so.

I found the reading to be difficult at times or at least slow as the story developed. It was very interesting and had me researching the time period. I was very curious as to the ability of a woman actually be able to do what the main fictional character did.

If you like this time period, give the book a chance. You might find a new favorite author.
