The Steps To Improve My Health

I need to get healthy. No one could argue that. I need to lose weight, eat better, move around me, and pay attention to my overall health. Why would I want to do that? Because I want to do things with my grandchildren and not be left behind because I wear out too quickly. I also don’t want to die until I’m old and lived a little.

Now knowing I need to improve my health and actually doing it are usually two vastly different things. I think we don’t progress because we don’t know how to start. We either don’t know where to start or want to start everything at once and become overwhelmed. We become our own worst enemy.

Step Back

I started off by stepping back. By that I mean, that I mentally pulled away from work, family, and myself. I had to step out of my own life and get a realistic look at it. The truth is that we lie to ourselves the most. I can say that I’m fine when in reality I am not. That’s why I had to step back and see what was really happening in my life. It wasn’t pretty.

I am obese. My health is not good. I get winded easily. Simple tasks are hard. And I’m not doing the right things to change all that. The very last thing there is what I really needed to see. No, I wasn’t eating doughnuts everyday, but not being active at all or eating too much of even good things can be just as bad. I needed the…
