Why Do We Always Think The Worst

Lately, I’ve been sitting back and just watching and listening. This includes online and actual physical presence with other people, work or family, or even just in a store. I’m discovering that humans always think the worst. Nothing else comes to mind. It is always the worst possible scenario. What is up with that?
